軋機在軋制過程中由軋制力所引起的內力沿機座各承載零件分布的應力曲線，稱作應力線。為了提高軋機剛度，減少機架及各承載零件的變形，采取各種技術措施后，將這種應力線縮短了的軋機，稱為短應力線軋機。它是高剛度軋機中的一種。
